Because of our commitment to environmentally conscious consumerism, NovuStone™ can contribute to LEED credits MR 4.1, 4.2 and MR 5.1, 5.2. Since NovuStone™ is made from 75% to 100% post-consumer recycled glass, 75% to 100% of the cost of using NovuStone™ can be applied to gain LEED credits MR 4.1 and MR 4.2. For a Pacific Northwest project, 77% of the total cost can be applied to credit MR 5.2, as we use this percentage of local materials to make our slabs. One hundred percent of our product’s total cost can be applied to LEED credit MR 5.1, as we manufacture our slabs in the Pacific Northwest.
» Stone Maintenance
NovuStone is stain resistant though may stain if not treated properly. For aggressive stain removal a mild neutral abrasive cleaner like oxi-clean can be gently scrubbed into the surface, then rinsed with baking soda and water(approx. 1tbl spn. to 16oz) to neutralize.
We use Stone Pro to seal our product. Here is a Product Description from their website: A unique solvent-based, V.O.C. compliant impregnator sealer, which penetrates grout, stone and masonry surfaces to protect against water and oil staining while allowing substrate to properly breath. Non-yellowing, long-lasting formula. Will not change surface appearance. Specifically designed to bond with quartz and silica materials inherent to granite and grout. More info here.
